    Shaker Heights City School District Awarded USTA Grant

    The United States Tennis Association (USTA) today announced, through its USTA Facility Assistance Program, that it has awarded a $20,000 grant to Shaker Heights City School District in Ohio. The grant will be used to reconstruct nine existing tennis courts at Onaway Elementary School. The USTA Facility Assistance Program aims to support and provide communities access to safe, appealing and functional tennis environments. Download Document
     

    USTA Facility Grant Awarded to Kokosing

    The United States Tennis Association (USTA) today announced, through its USTA Facility Assistance Program, that it has awarded a $18,000 grant to Kokosing Valley Community Tennis Association in Mount Vernon, Ohio.     Inner City Tennis Clinics Children Attend ITA Division III Indoor Championship

    The children of Inner City Tennis Clinics (ICTC) got a chance to watch play and chat with college tennis players at the 2014 ITA Division III National Men's Team Indoor Championship presented by Dickenson Group, LLC, on Saturday afternoon at the Mayfield Village Racquet Club.     Community Rallies to Fundraise for Special Olympics

    On Saturday, January 7th the Greater Midland Tennis Center partnered with Special Olympics Michigan to host the Team Tennis Challenge Special Olympics Fundraiser. 40 tennis players ages 11 to adult participated in a one day team tennis challenge that ultimately raised over $2,000 for Special Olympics Michigan. Robbie Waclawski of Special Olympics Michigan also provided a silent auction that raised additional funds. Read More

    New Money Tournaments to Target Collegiate Players

    The USTA/Midwest Section College Varsity Committee has been working to help create three new “Money Tournament” opportunities for college tennis players. The goal is to provide more events over the holiday break to get juniors, adults and college players to compete against each other. We are utilizing Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) as the bridge to make this happen. These events are selected and seeded using UTR. Read More

This award recognizes the outstanding 16 or 18-and-under age division male player from the USTA/Midwest Section for the highest standards of tennis accomplishments, character, conduct, sportsmanship and amateurism.     Tiffany Chen from Naperville, Ill., received the USTA/Midwest Section’s Helen Shockley Award on Thursday, June 16. The Helen Shockley Award recognizes the outstanding 16 or 18-and-under age division female player from the USTA/Midwest Section for the highest standards of tennis accomplishments, character, conduct, sportsmanship and amateurism.
