    Shaker Heights City School District Awarded USTA Grant

    The United States Tennis Association (USTA) today announced, through its USTA Facility Assistance Program, that it has awarded a $20,000 grant to Shaker Heights City School District in Ohio. The grant will be used to reconstruct nine existing tennis courts at Onaway Elementary School. The USTA Facility Assistance Program aims to support and provide communities access to safe, appealing and functional tennis environments. Download Document

    USTA Facility Grant Awarded to Kokosing

    The United States Tennis Association (USTA) today announced, through its USTA Facility Assistance Program, that it has awarded a $18,000 grant to Kokosing Valley Community Tennis Association in Mount Vernon, Ohio.     Inner City Tennis Clinics Children Attend ITA Division III Indoor Championship

    The children of Inner City Tennis Clinics (ICTC) got a chance to watch play and chat with college tennis players at the 2014 ITA Division III National Men's Team Indoor Championship presented by Dickenson Group, LLC, on Saturday afternoon at the Mayfield Village Racquet Club.     Mary Joe Fernandez of Cleveland, Ohio, will be inducted into the 2014 USTA/Midwest Section Hall of Fame on December 5 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The 2014 USTA/Midwest Section Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at the Sheraton Keystone at the Crossing Hotel in Indianapolis during the USTA/Midwest Section’s 121th Annual Meeting.     Grant Opportunity: 2014 Tennis Development Workshop

    The Tennis Development Workshop is an in-depth experience in community tennis programming and professional development for leaders of Community Tennis Associations, National Junior Tennis & Learning chapters, Park and Recreation Agencies, School Tennis Programs and other community-based service organizations. To increase the scope of the TDW, a limited number of partial and full workshop grants will be offered to community tennis leaders who otherwise could not afford to attend. Read More

    Fairlawn Native Doug Wenger Named USTA/Midwest July Volunteer of the Month

    The Northeastern Ohio Tennis Association (NEOTA) is proud to honor Doug Wenger as this month’s featured volunteer in recognition of his outstanding efforts as the Fed Cup Volunteer Coordinator. Fed Cup was held this past February in Cleveland, Ohio, and Doug was the man behind the scenes who made the machine work. Doug leveraged his vast network of tennis lovers to help with the event and then his efforts culminated in a nearly nonstop week of managing volunteers and their shifts. Read More

    USTA to launch new home for American tennis

    With an eye toward growing the game and enhancing the sport at every level, the USTA is planning to build a new 100-plus-court facility in Orlando, Fla. The project, slated to be completed in the winter of 2016, will house the association’s Community Tennis and Player Development divisions. Read More

    USTA/Midwest Section Bringing Tennis to Ohio Schools

    Within the past 6 months, the USTA/Midwest Section, working closely with the local Districts, have been able to bring tennis to 19 schools in the Canton School District, 31 schools in the Akron School District, and 16 schools in the Cincinnati School District. The coordinated effort culminated in March 2014 when 75 schools in the Cleveland Metro School District, the second largest district in the state of Ohio, also added tennis to their physical education curriculums.
