USTA/MIDWEST JULY VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH
    Doug Wenger | Fairlawn, Ohio

Each month the USTA/Midwest Section features a volunteer who is making it happen at all levels. The Northeastern Ohio Tennis Association (NEOTA) is proud to honor Doug Wengeras this month’s featured volunteer in recognition of his outstanding efforts as the Fed Cup Volunteer Coordinator.

Fed Cup was held this past February in Cleveland, Ohio, and Doug was the man behind the scenes who made the machine work.  Doug leveraged his vast network of tennis lovers to help with the event and then his efforts culminated in a nearly nonstop week of managing volunteers and their shifts during the tournament to ensure players, dignitaries and spectators had a terrific time.

Doug’s tennis resume is impressive.  From a USTA perspective, he has been President of the USTA/Midwest Section (2008-2009), President of the Midwest Youth Tennis & Education Foundation (2010-2011), and volunteered on various USTA National Committees.  At a local grassroots level, one of Doug’s many accomplishments was as the founder and President of the Greater Battle Creek Tennis Association where he conducted leagues, tournaments and free tennis lessons.

NEOTA congratulates Doug on his accomplishments and thanks him for being a leader in our District!
